About Dr. Shelly Crosby
Can a therapist really understand anxiety and trauma?
I help adults who have lived through life-threatening life events heal from their past, so they can build a stronger future. For over 10 years, I have helped individuals with PTSD symptoms resulting from childhood physical and sexual abuse, military and combat-related traumas, traumatic losses of a family member, and physical/sexual assault. I approach therapy with warmth and curiosity, as these experiences are deeply personal and often result in feelings of anxiety, fear, shame, and guilt. In therapy I will provide a calm and accepting space for you to discuss your experience, and I will guide you step by step as you learn new skills to start making sense of what happened and start re-building the future you want to have.
Clients often tell me that they appreciate my honest and no-nonsense style, and they are relieved that we can find moments of laughter even when working on difficult topics in therapy. I believe that we all have the potential for learning and growing- it doesn’t matter how old you are or how long ago your trauma occurred, it is possible to heal from anxiety, trauma, and PTSD.
