Couples Therapy for trauma and PTSD in Long Beach, CA
You love your partner, but lately it seems like you’re snapping at each other more than ever and everyone is walking on eggshells. You’re trying to hold it all together, keeping the household and the family running smoothly, but it never seems like enough. You feel disconnected and distant, and you wonder if you’ll ever feel close to your partner again. You’re tired of always feeling on edge, watching out for reminders of the past and things that will trigger more anxiety, fear, or anger. You want things to get better, but you don’t know where to start. You know that you can’t go on like this forever, and you worry that your relationship won’t survive if something doesn’t change soon.
Is trauma/PTSD getting in the way of enjoying your life?
I help couples who are feeling disconnected and anxious, by providing a roadmap to strengthen your relationship and heal from the after-effects of traumatic experiences. In trauma-focused couples therapy, you and your partner will start by learning more about trauma and the ways in which PTSD may be getting in the way of your relationship. You and your partner will learn specific strategies to improve your communication and I will guide you in practicing skills that can reduce the impact of PTSD in your relationship. After completing therapy, couples often say that they understand each other better and feel closer and more connected. Couples say that their relationship is better than ever, they are finally enjoying activities together, and they once again have hope for their future!
